ZODIAC SERIES

BRAND CONCEPT
Created during my years studying abroad, the series explores how cultural rituals continue to carry emotional warmth across distance. Centered on the emotional core of reunion, the works turn festive symbols, folk-art details, and paper-cutting traditions into visual memories of gathering, warmth, and connection. The collection extends this cultural storytelling into contemporary stationery, gifting, packaging, and collectible objects.

WORK IN PROGRESS ( Horse 2026 )

Initial Sketches- Orientation experiments

In previous years, the series always began with a full front-facing view, so this piece marks the first time I intentionally broke away from the original compositional rules.

I experimented with a horse in side profile, which gave me more freedom to create movement in the hair and explore a more dynamic composition.

CLOSE-UP DETAILS

VISUAL APPROACH
From a distance, the zodiac animal appears as a bold and monumental silhouette. Up close, the image unfolds into a miniature world of festive scenes: paper-cut decorations, dragon dances, firecrackers, reunion dinners, and celebratory toasts.

A deep red palette with muted tones and vintage textures is accented by subtle gold foil details, creating warmth, depth, and quiet luxury.

Every figure, object, flower, architectural element, and symbolic motif is intentionally considered. I think carefully about how each detail can follow the zodiac animal’s anatomy, shadow, movement, and sense of volume, so the final image feels integrated rather than collaged.
